Thomas William Watkins Sunday December 29th 2019

In Loving Memory
of
Thomas William Watkins
56 years
On December 29th, 2019, we said good bye to a wonderful man who was our rock. Tom fought a long battle with esophageal cancer with grace and his trade mark humour. Tom grew up in Lighthouse Cove, Ontario off the shores of Lake St. Clair and the Thames River and this fostered a lifelong love of fishing and the outdoors. Tom graduated from Sir Sandford Fleming College and eventually joined the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines where he worked for over 30 years as a cartographer and manager of the Publication Section of the Ontario Geological Survey. It was through work Tom met Michelle who convinced him to relocate with the Ministry to Sudbury where they eventually married and settled in the Long Lake area and raised their 3 sons. Tom loved nothing more than fishing on his boat with his family or watching/coaching his boy’s hockey games. He volunteered as coach and eventually became president of the Sudbury Playground Hockey League and the Long Lake Playground association where you could often find Tom clearing snow, making ice and running the hockey teams. Tom’s dedication to his family, his community and his work speaks volumes to the type of man he was.
Beloved wife of Michelle (Sauve) Watkins, loving father to Justin, Nicholas and Trevor all of Sudbury. Son of Sargent William Watkins (predeceased) and Judith Ann (Radlin) Watkins of Chatham. Brother to Wade (predeceased) and sister to Rose (Watkins) Gomes, husband Aniceto Gomes of Mississauga. Brother-in-law to Tim (Norma) Sauve, Rick (Susan) Sauve, Don (Judy Sauve) Kirkwood all of Sudbury. Missed by special cousins Debra (Don) Buchanan of Chatham and David (Julie) Radlin of Belle River. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tom will be missed by his many close colleagues and friends especially those he met through the SPHL and of course his Friday lunch mates.
