Obituary of Netty Verstraten
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 27th, 2019 at Watford Quality Care; Netty J. Verstraten (née Berkelmans) in her 88th year. Loving and dedicated wife of 56 years to the late Theodore Verstraten (2010). She is remembered as a nurturing and caring mother of Corne (Debbie) Verstraten, Ann (Gerald) Snoeks, Gerry (Lisa) Verstraten, Francis (Polly) Verstraten, Joe (Ellen) Verstraten, Doreen (Mike) Verberne, Mary (Michael) Tizzard, Pat Verstraten and Annette (Gary) Verstraten. Proud Grandma of 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Netty was born in Vught, Holland on March 17, 1932 to her parents, the late Gerard and Johanna Berkelmans and immigrated to Canada in 1954. She is survived by her sisters Joan of Thamesford and Grada and Fien of Holland. Predeceased by siblings Nico, Marie, John, Pete, Frank and Wim.
Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY, 32 Metcalfe St. W, Strathroy on Sunday, December 29th, 2019 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 124 Front St. E, Strathroy on Monday, December 30th, 2019 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Netty may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
