With grateful hearts for a long life well lived we have said good-bye to a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dad ended his journey at home surrounded by his family after an incredible 85 years. He was deeply cherished by all his girls. After an amazing 70-year relationship, 62 of those years happily married, Dad leaves behind his adoring wife, our mother Eleanor (Element). He was a devoted, kind and loving father to his three girls; Janet Louth (Brian), Karen Bader (Rodney), and Diane LeClair (Dave). We are comforted in knowing that Dad is now reunited with his first grandchild and namesake, Nicholas Keith Bader (1990). Dad was “Poppy” to his grandchildren and leaves special memories and much love with each of Lindsay, Karen (Matthew) and Michael Louth, Daniel (Shelby), Jenna (Trevor) and Kristy Bader and Steven and Victoria LeClair. Predeceased by beloved brothers Ralph and Ross. Dad grew up in London, Ontario, the youngest of three boys. Here at the young age of 15 he met the love of his life, Ellie. In 1969 the family settled in Grimsby. Dad loved boating, reading, woodworking and traveling, and of course, spending time with his girls. In his spare time from his sales career at Honeywell, he was actively involved in many organizations, most notably the Grimsby Skating Club. Dad went on to volunteer with the Western Ontario Section of the Canadian Figure Skating Association and in later years the Heritage Village Condo Corp. Dad and Mom shared a true love story. Each was always most concerned about protecting the other. To our mother who loved and cared for our Dad faithfully throughout the years there are no words to express our gratitude. He trusted and loved her immeasurably. Thank you so much to Dr. James Woodland and the West Niagara Palliative Care Team, who helped us keep Dad at home, where he wanted to be. Your compassion and support will not be forgotten. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place at The Casablanca Hotel, 4 Windward Drive, Grimsby, on Monday, December 9, from 4 to 8 pm. If desired, memorial contributions to West Niagara Palliative Care Team (169 Main Street East, Grimsby, L3M 1P3), the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, or McNally House Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
