George Derbecker, formerly of Neustadt, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Hanover on Friday, December 27, 2019. He was 92.
Born on November 17, 1927 to the late Alfred and Mamie (nee Schneider) Derbecker. He will be remembered by many customers as owner of Derbecker’s General Store, currently known as Granny’s General Store in Neustadt. This store met the needs of many people in the rural community. George truly enjoyed helping others as well as his daily interactions with his customers.
Survived by devoted wife Ruby (nee Hahn) Derbecker of Hanover for 65 years. Loved father of David (Susan) Derbecker of Houston, Texas; Sharon (Marvin) Clark of Hanover; Suzanne Derbecker of Calgary, Alberta; Janice (Cliff) Rosang of Abbotsford, B.C. and Carol (Jos) Van Leeuwen of Normanby Township. Proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his sister Eunice Derbecker of Hanover. Predeceased by his siblings Paul and Marie in infancy, Moody Derbecker, John Derbecker and Marion Domm.
Family and friends are invited to Victory Fellowship Baptist Church, Hanover on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 10 am until time of a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Rev. Paul Holden will be officiating. There will be a spring interment in the Neustadt Baptist Cemetery, Carrick Township.
