Obituary of Frederick Donald Jodrey
JODREY, Frederick Donald – age 72 of Meaghers Grant passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth on December 24, 2019. Born in Meaghers Grant, he was a son of the late Donald and Ethel (Rourke) Jodrey.
Fred spent over 33 years working at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography alongside his co-worker and good friend, Bob Murphy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor gardening. Fred loved spending time outdoors whether it was in the Arctic with his career, diving or playing sports such as hockey or fast ball. Fred was a family man and looked forward to dinners and gatherings where he spent many good times with his loved ones.
Fred is survived by his children, Chris (Christina Dickson) and Kim (Duane Boutilier); brothers, Murray and Ralph; sister, Donna Dillman; grandchildren, Justin, Breanna, Hunter, Braxtyn and Lyprincia; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Johnson; sister-in-law, Debbie.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4 from 2-4 pm in Meaghers Grant Fire Hall 4413 Highway 357, Meaghers Grant. A private family interment will be held in the spring.
Donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association or Meaghers Grant Cemetery Fund.
