Passed away peacefully at Lanark Lodge surrounded by her family at the age of 89. Daughter of Elizabeth (Bessie) Olson. Loving wife of 46 years to the late Robert McDonnell who predeceased her in 1998. Cherished mom of Diana McDonnell (Don Wilson), and Rob McDonnell (Kathleen Harrell). Sister of Elaine McLellan (the late Jack), June Barnard and Dale Olson (Claudette). Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers Leonard (Bud) Olson, Grant Olson (Noella), Wayne Olson and sisters Edith Gagnon (Pat) and Evelyn Ward (Howard). Sister-in-law of Torrence and Margaret McDonnell and Mae and Jack Weldon. Grandmother and great grandmother to Terry Leeder (Amanda Ladd), Justin Leeder, Brittany McDonnell and son Ryker, Ben McDonnell (Kirsten) and sons Ashton and Cooper. Aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in East Township Bury, Quebec. She became a Registered Nurse in 1950 from Sherbrooke Hospital, Quebec. She relocated to Toledo, Ontario in 1952 to work at the Smiths Falls Public Hospital where she was the Head Nurse for many years. She was an avid curler, a lawn bowler and she particularly loved long walks in the woods, cross country skiing and fishing in the brooks. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Thursday, December 18, 2019 from 12:00 noon until time of the service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
