Dorothy « Ann »‘s Obituary
REDT, Dorothy “Ann” ~ age 68 of New Albany, NS passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Barrie, ON, she was the daughter of the late Earl Victor and Dorothy Ann (MacLeod) Aslin. Although born in Ontario, Ann was raised in New Glasgow and Halifax. She attended Acadia University and Ryerson University where she studied Hotel Management. Ann lived in the Caribbean for a number of years; teaching tourism at a college in the Cayman Islands. She also lived in Jamaica for a time and wrote a book while there called “Jamaica For Kids”. Upon returning to Nova Scotia, she opened a business at the Halifax Port Authority for Tourism and then opened “Bedazzled” at Bishop’s Landing and also in the Sunnyside Mall, until her illness forced her to close them. Ann will be deeply missed by her husband, Douglas “Doug” Thompson; her daughter, Kimberly Jane (Sean) Kelloway, Cole Harbour, NS; grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Kelloway and Marc Bruce Kelloway; and her beloved cat “Rex”. In keeping with Ann’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448.
