Donald Raymond Johnston, 82, of Miramichi, NB, passed away on December 29, 2019 at home after his battle with cancer surrounded by family. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the eldest son of the late Osborne and Dora (Sherrard) Johnston.
Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years Nan (MacKnight) and son Chris of Miramichi; his brothers and sister: Jim (Lina), Shirley (Late Clark) Matchett, John (Donna) of Miramichi and brother in law: Warren (late Joan) MacKnight of Fredericton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
As per Donald’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside interment service will be held in the spring at Burnt Church Union Cemetery.
In Donald’s memory, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A special thanks to Dr. Ali Benjelloun and Dr. Bill MacGillivary for their great care and compassion during this difficult time. Also, a very special thanks to the ladies of the Miramichi Extra-Mural Program for all their invaluable help and support.
