Obituary
LEMAIRE, David Alexander – born in Wadhope, Manitoba on March 14, 1937, and passed away suddenly at Rubidge Hall Retirement Home on Thursday December 5, 2019 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Jacqueline (Mathers) (2005). Loving father to Duane (late Josie 2019), Kevin (Janet) and Melodie (Jeff Sanderson). Proud grandpa of Daniel, Nicholas, Jesse, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Victoria and Adam. Dear brother of Eddy (Karen) Lemaire of Selkirk, Manitoba. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Eleanor Lemaire, brother Kenneth, and daughter Terry-Lee. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, neighbours, and extended family and friends.
At a young age he worked in the mines in Red Lake, Ontario with his dad. Knowing this wasn’t his career path, he sought permission from his parents to join the Air Force. Dad was stationed in North Bay, Ontario, working as an airplane mechanic. At a Friday night Air Force Club dance, he swept mom off her feet and they soon married and settled in Callander, Ontario. Job opportunities at GE moved them to Barnardo Avenue in Peterborough where dad stayed until May 2018.
His laughter was distinct and infectious like the twinkle in his eyes. He loved his family fiercely and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives. He loved to share stories and will be forever missed. Special thanks for the warm and compassionate care provided by the staff at Rubidge Hall Retirement Home.
In keeping with dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A small, private family service will be held at Highland Park Cemetery on December 14, 2019.
