Colin’s Obituary
Wright, Colin Vincent
November 6, 1934 – December 24, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Wright, peacefully, in hospital, after a brief illness, at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Patricia (Howley) Wright. Devoted father to Melinda (Joe Henson), Paul (Diana Ollmann), Tracey, and Tessa (Andrew Boden). Proud grandfather to Stephanie (Nathan Goudie), Carolyn Henson, Diana (Stefan Kostic), Nick, Jacob, and Stephen Poirier. Brother to the late Michael (Ann) and to Christopher (Alison), of Bristol, England.
Colin will be fondly remembered for his love of technology, photography, music and dance. Emigrating from England to Toronto in 1957, he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Howley, also a recent immigrant from England. One of their numerous moves together, following many different professions, was across the country by train in 1966, with three children and a dog. The family lived in B.C. for almost 40 years, during which they travelled from the coast to the north, and back to the lower mainland, with their fourth child born in a coastal village. Upon retirement, Colin and Pat returned to Ontario to help raise their grandsons. Colin was the father who would teach his children to swim or play tennis, then bring them to the symphony. He could fix anything, it seemed, and spent many happy weekends in lumber yards. He would do anything for his family, and we will miss him greatly.
Many thanks to the wonderful nursing staff of the Carleton Place Hospital, who were so patient and kind in his final days.
A family memorial will be held at a future date.
