Robert Stuart Ford
September 11, 1929-November 2, 2019 Age 90
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our
beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, on the
morning of November 2, 2019, after a great journey on earth.
Bob was born in Moncton just prior to the start of the Great
Depression in 1929. He attended Moncton schools, and later
Mount Allison, Kings College and finally the Maritime College of
Pharmacy, where he obtained a diploma in Pharmacy in 1954.
He joined his father, C. Robert in the summer of 1954 at the creation
of Ford’s Pharmacy. His father passed away that same year.
His mother Grace was instrumental in helping the business
when it first opened and remained there for more than 20 years.
His brother Wayne joined the family business as a pharmacist
upon graduation. They eventually opened 4 pharmacies, 2 on
St. George Street, and 1 in Riverview and 1 in Hillsborough.
Bob and his brother passed the pharmacy legacy in 1991 to his sons,
Peter and David.
Upon retirement he and Shirley moved to the Bluff in Pointe
de Chene, NB. Bob was an avid gardener, and spent many hours
weeding and hoeing in the summer months. Bob was also very
fond of Parlee Beach. He could be swimming from April to
November every year. He carried a small thermometer with him
to test the temperature. He loved people and would strike up
a conversation with anyone. He loved to chat.
Bob was also very involved in the pharmacy profession. He
served as past president of the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society,
the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada, and Eastern Vice President of
the Canadian Pharmacists Association, as well as a Board member of the
Inter Provincial Pharmacy Insurance Group. He was awarded life
membership by the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society, as well was a
recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia. He was a member and past president of
the Moncton Rotary Club, and long-term member of the City Club. He was
also a founding member of the congregation at St. James Anglican
Church, where he remained a loyal parishioner until his
He is survived by 3 sons, Peter, David (Scott), Bryce

The family is very grateful for the wonderful care he
received from Dr. Guy Breault, (nurse and receptionist), Dr. Adenuga,
and the health care providers at Lakeview Manor. Many thanks to the
many people that came to visit Bob at the hospital and at Lakeview
Manor. Special thanks go to JP Melanson, an employee of
Dad’s in the early days. He held a special place in
Dad’s heart.
