Jillian Michelle Savoy November 7th 2019

Jill grew up in Elkford, British Columbia and spent her high school years in Rossland. After completing her degree at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, she traveled to Costa Rica to volunteer at the Verdiazul sea turtle conservation center. That was the beginning of a life full of adventure – traveling to Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Iceland, New Zealand, and Hawaii and throughout the Pacific coast of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. On her own, she completed some of New Zealand’s most iconic and challenging hiking routes.
Jill’s love of nature and the outdoors took her to work in some of the world’s most beautiful places. She spent time at Halcyon Hot Springs in Nakusp, planted trees in northern B.C., and picked apples, grapes, and blueberries on farms in the Okanagan and New Zealand. She worked at Silver Star ski resort in Vernon, and helped visitors in Jasper National Park and Alice Lake Provincial Park. She spent the last two years working for Sea Cider in North Saanich and exploring Vancouver Island. She had recently moved to Nelson to study massage therapy.
To know Jill is to love her. Her beautiful smile and gentle, compassionate nature drew people to her. She was bright and her original sense of humour hysterically funny. She was adventurous and seemingly fearless; she traveled and hiked solo, rock climbed, hiked and ran long distances, and snowboarded on many mountains. She loved the calming nature of water, the beauty of the ocean and the mountains, the feel of dirt on her hands in the garden, the satisfaction of cooking up a good meal, the warmth of a cozy grey sweater, the love of a cute cuddly doggo, the rejuvenation of a lake swim, and the peace found in a damn good sleep.
She is deeply loved and missed by her momma Kathryn Tremblay and Mario Lioce, her sister Alix, her sister Karly and brother in-law Philip Ziegler, her father Jim Savoy, and her aunties and uncles Trish Tremblay, Gord Trenholm, Di Tremblay and R.J. Kingston. Jill is loved and missed by many dear friends, and the family is grateful for an outpouring of support and wonderful shared memories.
A gathering to remember Jillian will take place in the spring. If you would like to be part of this event please send your contact information to alix.savoy@outlook.com.
