With great sadness we announce the passing of (Marie) Gertrude Alice Dayton on November 7, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, brothers: Francis, Edward, Richard and sister Evangeline. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Greg Dayton (Donna); Terry Cranston (Bruce); Laverne McGowan (Wayne) and Linda Wigelsworth (Allen); Five grandchildren Michael, Tracy, Jennifer, Kyle and Jeramie and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Gertie lived a full life as a teacher and following that career as an operator of a daycare until she retired. She enjoyed being a 50 year CWL member which kept her very busy especially in her retirement years. She loved to walk, enjoyed outings with her friends and going on warm vacation with her husband and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held in Creston, BC at a later date where she will have her final resting place alongside her husband Carl.
We would like to say a very special thank you to all staff on 10Y Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre. They were all so kind to mom.
As an expression of sympathy Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a Roman Catholic mass said in her honour.
