Gary Hugh Zinck

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Gary Hugh Zinck of Spryfield.
Gary passed peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on October 30, 2019. He was the son of Stewart and Helena Zinck, Halifax.
Gary is survived by his lifelong partner Jane Barker, Halifax; son Gary (Patricia), Sackville; daughters Christina (Francis), Halifax; and Cheryl Wyatt, Tantallon; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sister Sandra Deveau, Yarmouth; brother Jack Zinck (Colleen); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Shawn DeMelo, New Brunswick; sisters Marilyn Crotty, Halifax, Carol Reid, Halifax, and twin sister Gail McNeil, Halifax.
Gary drove tandem for G&R Kelly Construction for almost 35 years, retiring in April. He met many friends over those 35 years, doing a job he loved.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of the 8Th floor of the QE2 hospital. Your care and compassion are greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place.
Church service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, 173 Old Sambro Rd, Halifax on November 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. Rev Anne Hoganson, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
