It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine “Diane” Baker, 86 of Lunenburg announces her passing on Friday, November 08, 2019 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Lunenburg, Diane was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Mabel (Pyke) Risser.
Diane started her working career at National Sea Products and then went to work at Vi’s Beauty Salon, Stedman’s and the Metropolitan Stores, Atlantic Shipbuilding, Sears and finished her working career at Zwicker’s Variety Store.
Active within her community she was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23, Lunenburg, a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, where she and her husband Harry were custodians for a number of years.
In her spare time, Diane enjoyed knitting and quilting, was an avid bowler and could always be found enjoying a good cup of coffee with the “Coffee Girls” at Big Red’s.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie (Michael) Conrad, Bridgewater and sons, Christopher (Deborah) Baker, Rhodes Corner and Peter (Patricia) Baker of Centre, grandchildren, Michelle (Paul), Mark (Kristen); Tate (Lisa), Cole (Lindsay) and Chelsea (Justin); great grandchildren; Kayden, Gavin, Anna, Sarah, Solomon, Bowen, Eleanor, Emilee; brother, William (Barbara) Risser, Lunenburg and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, sister, Evangeline Wilkie, brothers, Roderick, Emerald and a half-brother, Dawson Wilkie.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Diane’s life on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
