Violet « Pat » Richards
November 06, 1939 – October 28, 2019
Surrounded by love, Pat left us to journey on a new path. She asked us not to be sad but happy for she is without limitations and can soar.
Leaving to mourn her passing are her four children: Roxanne (Charlie) Emery and son David (Raquel) and children Maggie Moyer and Wylie Moyer; Terry Nolet and son Christopher (Samantha) daughter Jordan; Tracy (Fergus) Lynam; grandson-in-law Jason Wilson (Heather) Elizabeth, Kruz, Kal-el, Haylie and Elexiss; Shawn (Bob) Parker and their sons Andrew (Ashley Moon) and Jacob (Christina Cann).
Pat shared her life with her best friend and sister Esther (Earl) Hansson and their family and enjoyed visiting with Joan (Leon) Goulet and family. A large extended family includes cousins, nephews and nieces of the Davis and Hoffstrom clans, as well as her second husband Bill (Bev) Richards and brothers and sisters in law from the Goulet and Richards families.
Pre-deceased by her parents Harry and Lillian Hoffstrom, brother Bruce (Linda), son-in-law Tom Blakely and first husband Sylvio Goulet as well as many other relatives.
Pat retired from Pinecrest Home for the Aged in 1999, moving first to Waldhof and then into Dryden in 2011. There was always something new she wanted to try so she indulged in many hobbies. It was knitting, golfing, gardening, fishing, collecting penguins, playing cards and watching Tiger Woods to name a few. Pat was well-known for her baking but especially her meat pies. It’s all about accurate measuring!
Pat was so happy to rekindle childhood friendships upon her return to the area and thoroughly enjoyed card playing activities at the GoGetters Senior Centre. Family and giving to family and friends was Pat’s pride and joy. Pat loved all fur babies and thoroughly enjoyed spoiling the family pets and they loved her for that. She enjoyed celebrating her grandchildren and great grandchildren and their friends accomplishments. She revelled in nicknames like G. Pat or Gramma Patch when she had her cornea surgery or Granny Pat. She answered to all.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the GoGetters Senior Centre on St. Charles Street on Saturday November 23, 2019 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. A short remembrance presentation will take place followed by refreshments.
Our thanks is given to Drs. Viherjoki and Moir and the Angels (nurses) and all the staff at the Dryden hospital who cared not only for our mother but supported us as well. A special thank you to Dr. Workman for his dedication and conscientiousness over the many years our mother was his patient. You have our respect and thanks for taking time to call on a Friday evening or Sunday morning checking on our mother to ensure she stayed as healthy and in the best health that she could be.
Should friends desire donations to the DRHC Foundation or a charity of ones choice may be made through the Stevens Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1
Mom, you have been a treasured gift and we will always carry you in our hearts. Love you
