Victor Joseph LeBlanc

LeBLANC, Victor J. “Papa” – Age 79, of Belliveau Cove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Born in St. Bernard, he was a son of the late Edmond and Anthonie (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Victor graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1961 as a teacher and then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts from University of Moncton in 1971. He attended summer school in both Bathurst and Halifax for 18 ½ summers to increase his teacher’s license level during which time he also obtained certificates in Special Education and Administration. He was a well-known teacher and school principal at École secondaire de Clare and École Jean-Marie Gay. Victor loved teaching. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight, Conseil Sigogne no. 6348, Comeauville; active in La Fédération Acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse having been past president of the Clare branch. He loved playing guitar and singing for his own family and literally for everyone. He also loved entertaining in his home for countless events. Victor enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nicole, Belliveau Cove; son, Jean-Claude, Dieppe, N.B.; daughter, Nathalie (Lawrence) Duggan, Hammonds Plains; brothers, Eddie, St. Bernard; Alfred (Susan), Doucetteville; grandchildren, Brooke Duggan, Lane Duggan. He was predeceased by brother, Delbert. As per Victor’s request, cremation has taken place under the care of Meteghan Funeral Home, where visitations will take place on Wednesday, October 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Pierre Drouin officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Bernard Parish Cemetery. The family wishes to say thank you to Ron and Trish Schaeffer, the CCAs from Digby/Clare Home Support and to VON, Tri-County Branch, for the special care given to Victor during the past several years.
