Obituary of Saverio Bentivoglio
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Saverio (Sam) Bentivoglio at the age of 82 on October 5, 2019.
He was surrounded by his loving family during his care at Douglas Memorial Hospital. Saverio was survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ida. Cherished father of daughter Suzy (Randy Shelley) and son Rob (Christine Hewlett). Very proud Nonnuzo to Felicia, Joshua, Chance and Brooke.
Saverio will be sorely missed by his family Ferrucio (Franca), Norina (late Jimmy), Dora (late Michele), Anna Maria (Alfredo), Carmela (Addolorato), Laura (Guido) and Franca, and his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by family members Marrietta (Francesco) and late Lina (Michele).
Saverio was born in Altilia, Cosenza, Italy and at the age of 17 left his hometown bound for Canada. He arrived on December 24, 1954 to reunite with his family in Thorold. He lived a successful life starting his first job in a bakery to retiring from General Motors in St. Catharines on February 1, 2002. Saverio had a zest for life, a positive attitude and an infectious smile.
A kind and gentle man whose family meant everything to him.
He enjoyed working in his garden and his long walks around Port Colborne.
Our father always said that he put more miles on his legs than his car. We hope that you now enjoy your long walks in heaven as their new angel. Until we see each other again.

In keeping with his wishes, there was a private funeral service and entombment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
