O’CONNELL, Russell Layton – 81, of Upper Clyde, Clyde River, It is with great sadness the family would like to announce his passing after a strong well fought bout of cancer. He died at his home with his loving children by his side and beside the river he loved to watch daily throughout the changing seasons. Russell was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born in East Baccaro, August 5, 1938, to parents, Russell and Bertha (Smith) O’Connell. He was a hard worker and provided for his family with all his power. Russell worked many years as foreman at Cape Anne Seafood in Port La Tour and many other plants all over the county as long as his health would allow. He is survived by his children, son, Alton (Gina); daughters, Holly (Andrew), Jennifer Lucas; his sisters, Violet Pierce, Pubnico; and Paulette Tulk, Ontario; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from coast to coast. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosamond (Dolliver); and daughter, Angela Lorena; granddaughter, Martina Dawn; brother, Helston O’Connell; sister, Lorena O’Connell; and half-sister, Faye Chetwynd. There will be a funeral service held at a later date. Interment to follow in the Woodside Cemetery, Port La Tour. Donations in his memory may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund.
