Obituary for
Roger Esmond Bason
Roger was born in England in 1938, and passed away on October 29 at the age of 80, after many years of illness. After completing his Cambridge University studies in history and becoming a charted accountant, he emigrated to Canada in 1966. He is grateful for an extremely rewarding work and personal life. He will be dearly remembered by Sandra (Sandy) his devoted wife of 50 years, and his two sons Mark (wife Barbara Davy and granddaughter Molly Bason) and David (wife Marisa Torbert and granddaughter Ruby). Roger worked as a financial executive for Nortel, SaskTel and the federal government. He retired in 2001 to take up writing the family genealogy and home renovation. A swimmer and water polo player in early life, he later enjoyed golf and cottage life, as well as time spent with friends and family. The family would like to acknowledge the caregivers at Lord Lansdowne Retirement Centre where he spent his last two years. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Friday, November 1st from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m., followed by a reception. In Memoriam donations to St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK or to the charity of your choice.
