Maria Godfrey
September 7, 1962 – October 22, 2019
Passed peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the age of 56. Beloved wife of Barry (“almost got him trained”) for 32 years. Proud, loving mother of the four best kids in the world: Mark (Lauren), Adam (Rachel), Maria L. (Stephen) and Angela (Andrew). Maria will be sadly missed by her fun-loving, supportive siblings Rose-Marien (Nik), Servaas (Deborah), Hubert (Yvonne), Willy (Pat), Jozef (Holly). Survived by Lena. Special people in her life were the entire Godfrey/Watts family (best in-law ‘family’ a person can have) and sisters-of-the-heart Mary B., Lynn G. and sisters-in-song (Northumberland Chorus – present and past). Music was always one of Maria’s passions as she was an enthusiastic member/quartet member/Director of Northumberland Chorus of Sweet Adelines for 34 years. She was also a Master Electrician for 34 years with GM, while spending any additional leisure time as an avid back county canoe camper, hunter and gardener. A Celebration of Maria’s Life will be held at the Columbus Community Centre 232 Spencer St. E., Cobourg on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 2 to 5 pm.
