February 23rd, 1932 to September 23rd, 2019
Marguerite peacefully passed away on Monday, September 23rd, 2019, in Vernon, B.C. She was born and raised in Cranbrook, B.C. and was predeceased in 2014 by Donald Wesley Purdy, her husband of 64 years.
She is survived by her five children, Donna, Mark, Les, Kim (Tim), and Jennifer (Martin), her five grandchildren, Hayley, Emma, Chloe, Jesse and Amelie, as well as four great grandchildren ~ Wesley, Marshall, Anastasia and Sloane. She is also survived by her one remaining sibling, Irene Naso, still residing in Cranbrook, as well as nieces and nephews.
As a young Navy wife and mother, Marguerite moved to Victoria in 1954, and many happy years were spent raising her family and enjoying good times with her close friends. When her husband retired in 1985, they moved to 108 Mile House and in 1991 moved once more, happily settling in Vernon.
Marguerite loved all things culinary and was a remarkable cook and baker, always experimenting with new cuisines and techniques. She liked the outdoors and accompanied her husband on many trips throughout B.C. as well as a winter spent RV’ing in Mexico. She loved her Grand Trip to Europe to celebrate her retirement in 1984 and the special Hawaiian vacation she enjoyed with her daughters in 2011.
A private family mass was held for Marguerite on September 25th, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Vernon, B.C. Her family wishes to express their appreciation to the Level 7 medical staff at Vernon General Hospital for their care and kindness to Marguerite. They also wish to thank Marie and Jim Schommer and Dan Lorimer for their thoughtful assistance and support to their dear Mother.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Marguerite Alice Purdy September 23rd 2019..
