Obituary of Lambertha Cornelia Smits
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 21, 2019 at Northland Pointe at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late John Smits. Loving mother of Nellie “Peitie” Dawn (Jack), Mary Dafoe (Jack), Betty Vander Veen (Hank) and Gerry (Susan). Caring grandmother of Greg Dawn (Sheri), Steph Woods (Dave), Mike Dafoe (Allison) John Vander Veen (Cathy), Scott Vander Veen (Alana), Amy Courage (Joe) and John Smits (Cory). Dear great oma of Mack, Lach, Nick, Lucas, Cole, Alyssa, Erica, Brianna, Colin, Micah, Evva and Fisher. Also survived by many nieces and nephews here in Canada and in Holland. Predeceased by her parents Bert & Maria Van Berkom and by her 11 siblings.
The Smits family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 in the Armstrong Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wainfleet. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Sick Kids Foundation or to the Diabetes Association.
