It is with great sadness that we announce, after a courageous battle with cancer, the peaceful passing of Jillian on October 23rd, 2019. Loving wife of Derek Schweitzer for 20 years. Beloved mother of Michaela, Lauren, Jacob and Lucas. Cherished daughter to John and Marie Monachello. Dearest sister to Jeffrey Monachello (Sandra McKay) and Kristin Monachello (Ian Charszewski). Daughter-in-law to Don and Joy Schweitzer. Sister-in-law to Jeffrey and Erin and aunt to Cameron and Ella. Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends across Canada. Predeceased by her grandparents Ronald and Rose Hyatt and Placido and Leona Monachello.
Jillian was a unique human being. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Victoria College. A woman of great conviction, a lover of life and everything within it. A positive force influencing everyone she knew. Her family, friends and society are stronger because of her shining inspiration. The impact she has made in her short life sets a higher standard of greatness for us to follow. Above all she wishes us to be kind to one another. For with kindness all things are possible. She is truly loved and will be forever missed.
A special thanks to Dr. F. Merali, Dr. A. Boyle and to the many other doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton and the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their professional and compassionate care throughout Jillian’s struggle. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jillian’s name may be made to St. Stephen’s-on-the-Hill, United Church of Canada in Mississauga or to St. Joseph’s Hospital Hamilton would be appreciated.
