Lucinda (Cindy) Sue Leazer was born August 10, 1948, as the first child of Richard (Speck) and Betty Leazer in Twin Falls Idaho. Later, her sister, Shanda Leazer (Kuykendall), came into the family. Then, 14 years later, her baby brother, Jeffery Leazer was born. All of Cindy’s family is from Twin Falls, Idaho.
Cindy’s father, Richard (Speck) Leazer passed away in December of 1995.
Upon high school graduation in 1966, Cindy went to a Nazarene college in Napa, Idaho, and then went to Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta, where she met Allan Hunsperger, who was also a student.
They were engaged to be married on June 4,1969, and got married on August 16,1969. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past August 16, 2019. They have two children: Corri Allan (Kristin) Hunsperger of Alamo, California, and Rebecca Dawn Hunsperger of Edmonton, Alberta.
Lucinda Sue has four grandchildren: Granddaughters; Sharayah Dawn Greet of Edmonton, Shayna Rae Greet of Edmonton, Brielle Lindy Hunsperger of Alamo, California, and a Grandson, Ethan Allan Hunsperger of Alamo, California.
Cindy has one great-granddaughter: Ivory Dawn Greet of Edmonton.
Cindy and Allan lived in Didsbury, Alberta, their first years of marriage before accepting the call to Mooresville, Indiana, as youth pastors at Grace Missionary Church in 1972. Later, they accepted a youth pastor position in Zion, Illinois, at Lakeview Church.
They moved back to Calgary, Alberta, in August of 1978, as Pastors of Parkdale Missionary Church. There, in Calgary, they received the Vision to start private Christian schools and a full power, commercial FM radio station.
Heritage Christian schools started in September of 1979. However, Christian radio stations didn’t start until April of 1994, due to the fact that Christian radio was illegal in Canada from 1921, until the law was changed in July of 1993.
In those 15 years of changing the law, Cindy was by Allan’s side giving encouragement and prayer support. Allan often says he couldn’t have completed the task without his loving wife, Lucinda.
This write up of Lucinda Sue doesn’t allow for the space that is needed to share Cindy’s story; an amazing, Godly woman. Allan hopes to write a book about their life together in the near future, as an encouragement to others of the impact that takes place when husband and wife are working together, as one.
Lucinda Sue was a woman who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and loved everyone around her with Christ’s love every day of her life. She loved those she knew well, and those who were complete strangers. Even folks who only met with her one time would consider that meeting a blessing and a memory to be cherished, forever.
Make no mistake, Cindy is waiting for all of us to join her in heaven. Let us not disappoint her. Thank You!
Donations to Heritage Christian Ministries are encouraged in lieu of flowers and will be used for missions in honour of Lucinda Sue’s name. Thank You!
The Celebration of the Life of Lucinda Sue Hunsperger will be on Friday, October 25, 2019, at West Edmonton Christian Assembly, 6315-199 Street, Edmonton, AB at 11:00 am.
