With great sadness we would like to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Floyd Ward Paulson. Floyd passed away October 21, 2019 in Trail, BC with his family by his side. He was born in Claresholm, Alberta.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Agnes, brothers Mervin and Delbert, and sisters Irene and Gloria. He is survived by his two remaining sisters Dorothy and Arlene. Floyd was re-united with his first wife Pat Morrison after the passing of his second wife Patty in 2008. Pat was his first and third love of his life and she remained at his side up until the final moment of his life.
Floyd is also survived by his two sons Darrell (Kathy) and Michael (Paula), grandchildren; Ryan (Laura), Michelle (Jake), Shawna and Mitchell, great-grandchildren, Abigale (Ryan and Laura) born on grandpa’s 81st birthday, Gracelyn and Presley (Michelle and Jake) Gracelyn born on grandpa’s 80th birthday.
Many people will remember Floyd as the owner and founder of F. Paulson & Sons Ltd., the business he began and operated with his two sons and business partners for countless years in Trail up until his retirement. Many people might also remember him as the guy always holding a cup of coffee and sporting a baseball cap with the pencil poking out the side while proudly displaying his company logo on the front. He was always at the ready to go measure something with his oversized tape measure hanging off his hip.
Floyd was always happy to greet his customers with a big smile and even bigger stories that he’d most likely told once or twice before to you if you happened to be a regular shopper at his store. Often his stories continued beyond the cash register to the window of the car because he had countless more stories and life lessons you should really hear before you went home.
In his younger years, Floyd was an avid outdoorsman. He loved bringing home his daily catch (sometimes a couple more than he was supposed to Shhh). From duck hunting, goose, deer, moose and elk, he proudly fed his family.
Floyd will be sorely missed by all his remaining family and friends but surely never forgotten. Rest in peace dad, you’ve most certainly earned it.
The family would like to thank everyone with home nursing and all the staff at Columbia View Lodge for the loving care and support for Floyd in his time of need.
