Evelyn’s Obituary
MUISE, Evelyn Mary – age 87, Quinan, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully after a very brief illness on Friday, October 4, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born January 20, 1932 in Quinan, she was a daughter of the late Avite and Elizabeth “Lizer” (Frotten) Doucette. Evelyn worked at Cosmos Imperial Mills in Yarmouth, as well as at Braemar Lodge as a housekeeper. She also worked as a caretaker for many local German families’ cottages until her retirement. A woman of great faith, she was a devoted member of Saint Agnes Parish and was also a member of the Cursillo movement. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles, bingo, knitting slippers and mittens and watching the Toronto Blue Jays play. She is survived by her two loving sons, Patrick (Barb) Muise, Springhaven and Billy (Joan) Muise, Quinan, along with her five grandchildren, Joceline (Wilfred) Comeau, Casey Muise, Jessica (Jake) Belliveau, Brittany Muise and Tadd Muise. Also surviving are siblings, Emilie Thombs, Ontario; Marie (Richard) Ellis, Halifax; Vivian (Danny) Landry, Amirault’s Hill; Flavien (Dorothy) Doucette and Elizabeth (Kenneth) Jacquard, both of Belleville; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Doucette and Joyce Cottreau. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph G. Muise Sr.; a son, Joseph G. “Joey” Muise Jr.; a sister, Lorraine Vacon; brothers, Freddie Doucette and Delbert Doucette. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday with prayers at 7 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8 at Saint Agnes Church, Quinan, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to Autism Nova Scotia or to the MS Society of Canada (Atlantic Chapter). The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff on 3-East for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Evelyn and her family during her short stay there.
