Obituary for Donna Irene Pulsifer (nee Robinson)
On Thursday, October 3, 2019, in her 99th year, Donna was reunited with her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Loring, who predeceased her by just 13 months. Donna was also predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Gail Firth (d. 1996), as well as brothers George and Treholm “Chum”, and sister Annetta “Nan” Robinson.
Donna was a loving, proud and generous matriarch to her daughter June Oliver (Michael Gilhespy), and to grandchildren Lorne Oliver (Su Hahn), Daryl Oliver (Andrew Parr), Breanne Firth (Curt Snoddon), and Darren Firth (Samantha Webb). Her days were brightened in recent years by her great-grandchildren, Grant and Martin Firth. Her family will sorely miss Gram’s hugs and laughter. Donna will also be missed and remembered by many extended family members across Canada.
Donna was a proud veteran who served with the RCAF in Dartmouth, NS, during WWII, and delighted in recounting to her grandkids the problems she had trying to find uniforms to fit her small stature, among other stories.
Donna will be missed by her friends and neighbours, new and old, of whom she always spoke fondly. She was so grateful to have wonderful people around her when her family couldn’t always be close, and was happy to have many people who would check in with her regularly and to help when needed. She never forgot the generosity and care shown to her by those in Ancaster over the years, and neither will her family.
Donna’s cremation has been arranged by Circle of Life in Dundas, ON. Honouring Donna’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Family is grateful for condolences and shared memories. If desired, donations can be made to Amistad Canada or to a charity of your choosing in memory of Donna.
