David Willard Banks
David Willard Banks, age 77, of Cole Harbour, NS, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2019 at Hospice Halifax. David was born in Halifax and was the son of the late Willard A.Banks, Margaret “Marnie” [Jost] Banks and step-mother Marion [Hyson] Banks. David spent his childhood in Bridgetown, NS and Trenton, ON. He became a Radar Tech with the R.C.A.F. and later joined IBM in Toronto as a Systems Engineer. David was a Financial Advisor with Assante Hydrostone at the time of his passing. He had a great sense of humour and loved to get on the golf course as often as possible. He was involved with L’Arche Halifax for a number of years and was instrumental in getting their annual charity golf tournament started. David will be greatly missed by his wife of 41 years, Sharie [Schoester] and sons Dixon and Jordan Banks. He is survived by siter Barbara “Bonnie” [Ralph] Campbell of Trenton, ON, and brother Scott [Anne Marie] Banks of Bridgetown, NS. David was predeceased by his sister Margo Banks. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at the exceptional Hospice Halifax. Cremation has taken place under the care of the Dartmouth Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life for David will be held on Sunday November 3rd at 2:00 pm with reception to follow at Cole Harbour Woodside United Church on Bissett Road. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice Halifax, Cole Harbour Woodside United Church or L’Arche Halifax.
