My father, Roger Poirier passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:27am. My dad was someone that touched many lives during his time on this planet. He was a well known person in the Flin Flon/Creighton area and Manitoba. Some people knew him as Coach Roger for the many years of dedicated time and energy he placed on coaching both hockey and fastball. Others knew him as Lion Roger for his immense role in serving the community as a volunteer. He was also known by other people as Roger, the building inspector, a job that he worked at tirelessly until he retired. In his later years some people knew him as Guard Roger a role that he took on after retirement that he thoroughly enjoyed. But most people just knew him as Roger, the person they saw around town that would have a smile and a conversation for anyone. My daughters knew him as Grandpa, the person who loved them unconditionally and was so proud of their accomplishments and of the people they are becoming. I knew him as Dad, my best friend, the person that I looked up to and tried to emulate in my life. Some of my best memories are times spent with my Dad and those times will be sorely missed. I hope that I can be half the person my dad was. If I am then the lives I have touched will be better for it because all the lives my father has touched were enriched by his presence. DAD you were a light on this earth, one that will be surely missed. I love you Dad and hope you are watching down on us and at peace.
