Rodrick Allan Bertram Lins avis de deces

Our family saddened to announce the passing of Rod Lins on Sept 18, 2019 at 77 years old. Rod was enjoying the comforts of home when heart complications initiated a trip to Red Deer hospital and then flown to Edmonton University hospital. Rod underwent a massive heart attack, and despite all efforts made of saving him, he was unable to carry on. He was surrounded by family in his final hours and will be missed beyond words!
Born in Rossland BC, where his small-town and cowboy spirit started. Rod was very proud of his Scottish and German heritage and had done many hours of research into it. He was an amazing brother to Roselyn sharing great times together as kids and throughout their adult years. His parents were Lenard Lins and Margarette Lins (Mauchline). At the age of 12 he moved to Vancouver after the family gold mine (Midnight Mine) was sold. He often talked of playing with his cousin Darlene as a kid, and how they were like brother and sister growing up. Rod married Melody Fair (deceased 2011) and had 4 children Craig, Kent, Darin and Kirk. Moving from the lower mainland, he raised his family in various towns throughout BC; Kamloops, Fort St. John, Kelowna, Agassiz. This was followed by retiring in Lacombe in Alberta.
Rod was fortunate to find love once again, and Married Sylvia Johnson in Lacombe AB. With all his heart he loved his step kids Derek, Stephanie and Richard. Rod and Sylvia moved to Delburne AB where they enjoyed their time together, with all their shared interests. Rod had a caring heart for animals and they just seemed to migrate to him. He would talk soothingly to them while petting them on his belly. He was always happy with the animals he and Sylvia would adopt. Their dog, birds, and the stray cats that they rescued and took on the challenge of taming.
Rod was an avid 2way radio hobbyist, and ultimately was able to turn his hobby into a career in radio communications. He would climb multi-storey towers to mount antennas and was so comfortable while high above he ground he even drank coffee out of his thermos. He loved the helicopter rides, taking him to the top of many mountains to repair repeater radios. He could spend hours, days, or weeks in his shop, working on radios, trying to solve some sort of electronic puzzle. He loved the challenge when a ham radio buddy would drop off a radio with some bizarre issue. He would smile and say leave it with me.
Fishing was a major part of his life, he loved being on the water in a boat, trolling for the big fish he sensed were swimming below. He grew up fishing with his father, spending many hours on the ocean near Vancouver fishing for salmon and cod. And spent his adult life with his family exploring the lakes, rivers and streams throughout BC and Alberta.
Rod is also survived by his many grandchildren. Jeffery, Amethyst, Trenton, Kiegan, Melody, Peter and Nicholas. As well as his four daughters in law Sarah, Kirstie, Kim and Chrysti. Including many extended families and cousins through marriage, relationships and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB.
