Nancy Dorothy Smart (nee Hatton) of Holstein, passed away at her residence on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Fredrick “Fred” Smart. Loving mother of Kim (John), Tim (Sherrif), Steve, Wayne (Julie) and Sonny (Samantha). Cherished grandmother of Lee (Stephanie), Jacki, Samantha, Josh, Matthea, Ethan, Celine, Ben, Jordin, Piper and great-grandmother of Jaden, Michael, Haley and Oliver. Fondly remembered by her, extended family and friends. Predeceased by brother William “Bill” Hatton, and his late wife Vera. Mom was born and raised in Toronto and was proud of her British heritage. She moved to the farm as a mother of five young children. She quickly adapted to the farming life and became a strong business woman and a true advocate of the environment. Mom was the anchor of the family. She was strong and healthy until her last day. Her children and their families will miss her strength and fortitude. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex – Leisure Hall, 850 Princess Street, Mount Forest on Saturday, October 19th from 2 – 4 p.m., with memories being shared at 3 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
