Peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, Don passed away on September 25, 2019, at the age of 59. Loving husband of Lorraine (Vanden Elzen) Moir. Father of Andrew, Luke and Yael, and Emily. Son of Mary and the late Donald Moir. Brother and brother-in-law of Francie, Jacquie and Brian Smith, Marilyn, Walt and Eden, Michael, Kevin, and Tony Darmanin. He will be dearly missed by the Vanden Elzen family; John and Anne, Mary Ann and Robert, Patricia and Joe Stock, Diane and Ed Nugent, Margaret and Bernie Plagens, Joseph and Laurie, Therese and Steve Wright, and Catherine and Woody Van Arkel. Don leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his two sisters Marjorie Moir, and Rose Darmanin, and father and mother-in-law John and Catherine Vanden Elzen. Don grew up on a farm close to Ilderton and settled in nearby Lucan on a farm of his own. For the past 25 years Don lived with ALS. The support of nurses, PSWs, friends, neighbours, and the community of St. Patrick’s Parish allowed Don to live a full life, despite his illness. His unwavering commitment to his family and his faith has left behind a powerful impact on those around him.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 1:45 PM.
