Marion’s Obituary
With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marion Elizabeth Daniels, at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS, on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the age of 85. Born in Middleton, NS on June 2, 1934, she was a daughter of Laura Belle (Whitman) and Abner Rice Daniels. Mum grew up on the farm on Fitch Road in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, and she often recounted many happy memories of her childhood there. She graduated from Lawrencetown School and obtained a secretarial diploma at Mack Business College. Mum worked at home as a seamstress when her kids were growing up. In the 1980s and 90s, she was a secretary at the College of Geographic Sciences and enjoyed her time there. Mum created beauty in everything she did. She cooked wonderful meals and desserts and often hosted family dinners. Her lemon delight, cabbage rolls and turkey dressing were legendary and were family favourites! She could sew anything from Barbie doll clothes to a wedding dress or winter coat. She also crocheted, knitted, quilted and made braided rugs. Her meticulous handiwork, evident in the countless beautiful creations given to family and friends over the years, will be a lasting legacy. Mum was well-known for her beautifully kept lawn and spectacular flower gardens, and spent many pleasant hours outside tending to them. She enjoyed singing, and was a faithful member of Lawrencetown United Baptist Church Choir for many years. Mum will be remembered for being a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. She always put her family first and made a cozy, warm and inviting home for us. Friends were always welcome. She was a caring grandmother and was so proud of her family. She instilled in us the importance of caring, hard work and education. We are so blessed to have had her for our mother. Besides her parents, Mum was predeceased by her brother, Melbourne in childhood, and sister, Eileen Levy. She is survived by her children: Kris Larsen (Lynne Bryant), Halifax; Kathy Sturtevant (Roger), Bridgetown; and Diane Larsen, Victoria, BC. She is also survived by grandchildren Nick Warren, Tim Warren (Nicholle); Carl, Yvonne and Bianca Olivotto; great-grandson Jacob Warren; special niece, Libby Clark. We offer our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Mum while she was at the Lodge. We would also like to thank Rev. Patty Beals and Dr. Grant Goodine for their care and support. Family and friends are invited to gather to honour and remember Mum’s life at a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 23, 2019 in Lawrencetown United Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Foster officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to Lawrencetown United Baptist Church, P.O. Box 68, Lawrencetown, NS B0S 1M0. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., Middleton (902) 825-3448. On line guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
