Marietta ‘Maria»s Obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Maria Aloe (nee Filice) on Thursday, September 26, 2019 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her beloved spouse of 60 years Pasquale Aloe. Also predeceased by sisters Ida Berlingieri (Domenico d.),Giuseppina Naccarato, Teresina Filice, Angelina Grimaldi, brothers Santo, Antonio and Giovanni Filice, brotherin- law Vincenzo Aloe, sister-in-law Domenica Mastroianni , niece Teresa Bozzo and nephew Attilio Filice. Will be sadly missed by nephews Mike (Rina) and Aldo (Mary) Berlingieri and their families who she treated like her own children and who loved and respected her like a mother and grandmother. Will be dearly missed by surviving brother Francesco Filice (Dora) and many nieces and nephews in Italy with whom she kept in constant contact. Will also be missed by sister-in-law Maria DeLuca (Carlo d.), nieces Barbara Berlingieri, Lidia Fortino, nephew Palmo Filice and all of her extended family, friends and neighbours in Canada. Her entire extended family was «Special» in her eyes, and she took great pride in all of their achievements. «Zia Marietta», as she was known to all, was strong, independent and full of life to the very end. She took pride in being a homemaker to her late husband and family and worked tirelessly to make traditional meals and to fill her home with warmth and love. She was happiest when family, friends and neighbours, gathered at her home, espresso always on the ready, to share food, stories and laughter, and was very appreciative of their regular social visits and phone calls. Marietta was an inspiration to all, a respected elder in our community, and all are thankful for her long life, well wishes and her direct and honest wisdom over the years. Visitation at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church, 11 Wilson Street West, Ancaster, Ontario on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
