Obituary for Joanne (Shirley) Leitch
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne (Shirley) Leitch, otherwise known as “Jo”, “Big Red” and “Jan”, at the age of 78. Jo was passionate about her family and friends. To know her you would know her greatest treasures and accomplishments were her daughters Bonnie (Martin), and Dolly (Steve), her special niece Tara (Byron), her grandchildren Brittany (Michael), Tyler, Raymond, Patrick, and Riley, her great-grandchildren Isabella, Nicolaas, Cecilia and baby Gray. Joanne was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Ray Leitch. Joanne could be found hopping Bingos, Buses, Shopping Malls or crocheting gifts. Joanne was always up for a good adventure. “Always on the go Jo”, travelling as many places as she could in her 78 years. Joanne was an amazing aunt to all her nieces and nephews and loved them dearly; Wendy (Rod), Cheryl (Gary), Cindy (Brad), Carey (Don), Diane (Ken), Michael (Jen), Darrin (Claudette), Robert (Marlene) and their families. Joanne adored and missed her predeceased mother Isabelle, and her father EB. Sisters Christina (Herbert), Carol (Jim) and Georgina (George). Joanne will also be sadly missed by her wonderful cousins and their families. Jo was loved by so many it is hard to mention everyone. Friends were another important part of Joanne’s life. In her final days you could find them near her bedside, until her fight came to an end; Jean, Marie, Judy and Karen. Thank you for all you did for Jo. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Palliative Care Team at St. Peter’s Hospital, for all their kindness and compassion during the past few months.
