Imelda Lahti Sauve avis de deces

In Loving Memory of Imelda Lahti (nee Sauve), 88 years, on September 4th, 2019, at her home in Aurora, surrounded by her family.
Born in Espanola, Ontario, Imelda was a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Sauve. She was the loving and devoted wife of Elmer Lahti (predeceased). They were married in 1954 in Espanola, Ontario.
Imelda trained and then worked as a Registered Nurse in the Recovery Room at the then St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sudbury, retiring from Laurentian Hospital in 1991. Both Imelda and Elmer were active members of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church where they served their faith community in numerous roles.
Happy years of retirement followed with Elmer until his passing on September 5, 1998. Imelda remained in the family home in Sudbury until 2018, when a change in health precipitated a move to Aurora, Ontario to be close to her daughter Janice.
Imelda will be remembered for her strong faith in God and commitment and devotion to her family and friends. Her love, inner strength and determination were a shining example to her children: Ken (wife Sue) of Surrey, British Columbia, and Janice (husband Jamie Wood) of Aurora, Ontario. She was a loving grandmother to Rachel, Steven, Christine, Colin and Michael. Predeceased by sisters Sr. Dolores Sauve, Eva, (Jean Louis Geseron predeceased), and Yvette, (Lorenzo Thibodeau predeceased) (Louis Rathe predeceased). Lovingly missed by surviving sisters Anna (Andre Lecuyer) of Orleans, and Vivianne (Lawrence Lalonde predeceased) (Edward Lamothe predeceased) of Espanola. Sadly, Imelda will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge the heartfelt care delivered by family physician Dr. Ma, and the staff at Sunrise Retirement Living Home in Aurora during the past year. We especially want to thank Imelda’s personal support team of Judith, AJ, Helen, Raichail and Fateme who patiently, diligently, and lovingly cared for mom in her final months.
Friends may be received at Jackson and Bernard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Tuesday September 10, 2019 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Memorial Mass will be at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, on Wednesday September 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm followed by a luncheon in the parish hall. (Friends may gather at the church after 12:45pm Wednesday)
Cremation with interment in the Sudbury Civic Cemetery. Donations to the St. Joseph’s Foundation of Sudbury would be appreciated.
