CRONK: Ira Hazen
April 4, 1923 – September 27, 2019 Ira Hazen Cronk passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 27. 2019 at City View Retirement Home in Ottawa, where he has resided for the past 3 years. He was predeceased by his wife Lois, his two sons, Gordon and David as well as 6 siblings. He is survived by his children, DeRutha (Ron Dupuis), Linda (Ken Roth), Elizabeth (Hans Leppik) and Joseph, as well as 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Hazen was born to Joseph and Annie Cronk in Haldimand County in April of 1923. He went to McGaws Elementary School, Selkirk High School and then turned to farming with his father, with a brief stint fishing on Lake Erie with his brother-in-law Clayton Weaver. In 1947 he married Lois Cook of Brantford Ontario. Together they raised 6 children. Hazen went to Teacher’s College later in life and taught at Wasaga Beach, Selkirk, Hagersville, Dunnville, Pagwa River, and Moose River Crossing before retiring. The family will honour his life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel, R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main Street South Hagersville, on Friday, October 4th from 7 to 9. Funeral service will be held at The Dwelling Place, Springvale Be In Christ Church, 2602 Haldimand Road 55, Hagersville, (Springvale), on Saturday, October 5th, at 11:00 am. A light luncheon will be served after the funeral. Interment will take place after the luncheon at Bethel Cemetery, Rainham. www.rhbanderson.com
