Koiter, Grietje (nee VanHuizen). On Thursday, September 19, our beloved mom, Grietje Koiter (nee VanHuizen), passed away peacefully in Townsend, Ontario. While we are sad to say goodbye, we also celebrate that she is once again singing, dancing, and laughing with her Lord and Saviour. Grietje was born on November 14, 1929, in Groningen, the Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Wallaceburg, Ontario with her husband Warner. Together, they raised five children: Klaas (Wilma), Trixie Wonder (Pieter), Bob (Mary Ann), Nick (Sandra), and David (Aline). Known for her hospitality, Grietje always had time to sit for a coffee and a chat. She garnered strength and determination from her abiding faith in God and deeply loved her family which included 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many more family and friends in both Canada and the Netherlands. A Celebration of Life will take place on October 12, 2019, at Hagersville Community Christian Reformed Church at 2 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Hyde and Mott Funeral Home, Hagersville.
