Gerald began his working years as a farmer, selling at the Farmer’s Market and later to Loblaws. He later joined the Ontario Ministry of Transportation where he served for many years. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to spend time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed many happy years at the family cottage on Baptiste Lake and at the “Camp” near Algonquin Park. As much as Gerald loved spending time in Northern Ontario, he always looked forward to escaping the winter in Madeira Beach, Florida.
Gerald was a long -time parishioner of St. Eugene’s parish, Hamilton and later Incarnation Parish. He was a member of the Hamilton and Mohawk Gun Clubs.
A talented and self-educated man, he taught his family the importance of hard work, faith, family and friends. Gerald was an avid reader, who loved history and had an extensive knowledge of current events. He loved to cook and always looked forward to traveling. He and Barb traveled extensively in their retirement, to Europe and abroad.
The family extends gratitude and thanks to Father Charlie Galea and the caring team of doctors and nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital. Notably Drs. Tobin & Clement.
