STANLEY, Emma Maxine
1928 – 2019
Emma Maxine Stanley passed away quietly on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Continuing Care in the Lacombe Hospital at the age of 91 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Eva “April” (Philip) Janzen; her granddaughters, Connie (Mario) Paftaluta and Carrie McIsaac; her great grandchildren, Andrea, Jessica, Christina, Hailey, Shelby, Ashley and her step great grandchildren, Thea and Josh as well as her great great grandchildren, Ayah, Loki and Atticus.
She was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings.
Emma was born on March 8, 1928 in Douglas Parish, York County, New Brunswick. This is where she was raised and married until moving to Toronto with her daughter Eva in 1954. After taking many self improvement courses, she began working with the Government of Canada. She also worked part time as a Registered Nursing Assistant and was a Captain of the St John’s Ambulance. After many years and retirement in Toronto Emma moved to Calgary in 2000, at the age of 72 years to be near her daughter. After failing health, she moved into Lacombe to again be near to Eva and Phil.
Emma was passionate about crafts and was a very talented painter. She was a woman of strong Faith and was hardly ever seen without her Bible.
A Graveside Service will be held in the Dorn Ridge Cemetery, New Brunswick on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to a reception following the Graveside Service in the Keswick Valley Recreational Centre where friends are encouraged to share their memories of Emma and visit with the family.
A Celebration of Emma’s Life will be held at the Crossroads Community Association, 1803 – 14 Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
