Eleanor Constance BLAKEBOROUGH

Eleanor Constance Blakeborough, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26 at her home at Oak Tree Manor in Nanaimo, surrounded by family and friends.
Eleanor was born on October 10, 1942 in Fort Vermilion, Alberta, to Hilda and Jack Nisbet. She moved to Nanaimo in 1977, where she became an active volunteer, and eventually a lifetime member, of the Nanaimo Theatre Group. In 1984, she joined NTG in representing Canada at the International Drama Festival, held in conjunction with the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In addition to acting, directing, and producing, Eleanor was a life-long painter and enjoyed tennis and traveling. She was proud of the work she did for 35 years at the Calgary Medic Centre, Caledonian Clinic, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, and Madrona Clinic as an X-Ray Technologist, especially the years she spent in mammography.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Allison, son Johnny, and daughter-in-law Tami; her sister Anne Marie, brother-in-law Don, and their children Kim and Val; and her sister Cheryl and brother-in-law Clarence.
We will miss her sharp wit, kind heart, artistic spirit, and contagious laugh. Over the last four years Parkinson’s took her strength, but her intelligence and humour endured. Eleanor had the courage to choose her own time of dying, and we are eternally grateful for the compassion and care provided to us by the Medical Assistance in Dying and Palliative Care staff. We also thank Oak Tree Manor and the staff of Island Health Home Support, who have helped Eleanor so much.
A celebration of life will be held at the Nanaimo Theatre Group — Bailey Studio on 2373 Rosstown Road, Saturday October 12 from 1-4pm.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Eleanor Constance BLAKEBOROUGH..
