Elaine Richardson
1947-2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our
dear wife, mother and grandmother, Elaine Richardson, on the morning
of Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Elaine was born in Pembroke, Ontario on June 15, 1947 and spent much
of her childhood in Sheenboro, Quebec before moving to Mississauga as
a teenager. In 1976, she moved to Lower Brighton with her husband and
young children where she was a proud stay-at-home mother and wife for
many years before working in home care with seniors for many years.
Each of us will always remember your smile and your kindness to
others.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, George,
and her children Dale (Nicole) and Lynne (Mitchell) Hemphill. She
leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Emma, Aiden, Lucy, Ava and
Jane. Also left to mourn are her siblings, Clarina, Dorothy, Marina,
Marion, MJ, Pat, Rose Mary, Doug, Brian, Edward and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Hilaire and Clara, and
step-mother, Mary Helen, as well siblings, Raymond, Juanita, Hillard,
Billy, Donna, Joe, Gary and son-in-law, Neil Chase.
A devout Christian, Elaine was a long-time member of the
Lower Brighton Wesleyan Church. She worked in home care for twenty
years and made many close connections with the seniors she cared for.
She was also an integral part of her small community of Lower Brighton
where she always lent a helping hand to those in need. Elaine will be
missed by all.
Sweet wife, dearest Mom, and beloved Nanny, you showed all of
us this: when you are surrounded by all that you need, never build a
higher wall; instead, always build a longer table. We will live to
celebrate your shining generosity every day.
At Elaine’s request, there will be no visitation.
Instead, a graveside service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday,
September 25, 2019 at the Lower Brighton Cemetery. All are welcome.
The service will be followed by a reception at the Lower Brighton
Wesleyan Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the
Arthritis Society of Canada would be appreciated.
