Duane Fred Jorgensen

It is will sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Duane Jorgensen on September 9, 2018 at the age of 78. Fred was born in Cardston, Alberta and was raised Twin River, Alberta. He married Mary Foggin in 1960 and shortly after their wedding they moved to Washington state where he began his studies and apprenticeship in carpentry. Over the course of the next 12 years he built many houses around the Seattle area. While living in Washington Fred and Mary had three children, Mark, Mike and Tammy. In 1972 Fred and his young family moved back to Lethbridge so that he could start his own construction company. Fred built many houses in and around the Lethbridge area.
Having grown up on the farm, which he loved and always missed, Fred was eager to have some land of his own. He wanted his children to have a small taste of what it was like to grow up on a farm as he did. In 1975 he purchased 75 acres north east of Coalhurst and built a home for his family. While living on the farm he (and Mary) planted huge gardens, raised wild birds, stocked fish in the pond, raised chickens, ducks and kept some horses to the delight of his daughter. Many happy years were spent on our “mini farm”. Fred and Mary moved from the acreage in 1984 over the course of the next years lived in the area of Beaver Mines, Warner and Yuma, Arizona.
In his younger years Fred enjoyed traveling with his family throughout western Canada and the United States and continued to do that with Mary until she became ill in 2013. Fred was an avid card player throughout his life and very much enjoyed spending time with his friends either playing poker or crib. He loved to garden was very pleased with his raised bed garden that he had planted this spring while living at the Prairie Rose Lodge in Milk River.
Fred is predeceased by his parents Carl and Helen Jorgensen (nee Peterson), his ex-wife Mary (Jorgensen, Mutter) nee Foggin, and his son Mark Conrad Jorgensen. Fred is survived by his son Mike (Liisa) Jorgensen, Tammy Jorgensen and her husband Eric Thomsen and grandchildren Ty and Anna Thomsen, brother Gary (Betty) Jorgensen, his nephews Grant (Ester) Jorgensen, Ian (Jay) Jorgensen and niece Lesley (Chris) Bunting as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Instead of having a service Fred requested that his loved ones scatter his ashes on the homestead land, that he loved and cherished, in Twin River where he was raised.
The family of Fred would like to thank his good friend Tomi Smith of Warner, and the staff of Prairie Rose Lodge in Milk River for taking such good care of Fred over the last several years.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Duane Fred Jorgensen..
