Carl Tschritter passed away on Friday September 13, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Born in Robinson Alberta, Carl was the ninth of eighteen children. He started work at age 16 for Imperial Optical and ended his career with his own independent optical shop in Oakridge, Calgary 53 years later. He married Genevieve Rabin of Radville, Saskatchewan in 1957 and is the proud father of three children: Vance (Kelli), Michele (Darren), and Carey (Joanne). He will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren: Caitlin, Dana, Daniel, Ryan, Sydney, Owen, and Kimberly. Carl was an avid lover of many sports. As a young man he played hockey for the Forest Lawn Nomads and went on to both play and coach hockey for recreational teams. Carl also enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling, and poker. He loved the Calgary Flames and the Stampeders and attended many games with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he became a devoted supporter of his grandchildren’s soccer teams and was the biggest fan in the crowd. He was always willing to provide a post-game analysis with particular emphasis on his views of the officiating over doughnuts and a cup of hot chocolate. A Visitation will be held at the Evan J. Strong Funeral Services (5502-2 St SW) on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Name Church (2223-34 St SW) on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00am. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Cemetery at 12:30pm with Deacon Dante Muzzo officiating. Reception will follow at the Holy Name Church Hall.
