Obituary for
Bert Braiden
On September 25, 2019, Bert Braiden of Edmonton passed away at the age of 94 years.
Born in 1925 in Northern Ireland, Bert settled with his family in Sedgewick as a baby. He left home at 14 to work for the town creamery. Bert joined the Navy at 18 and was 19 when he served in D-Day. After some time working in mining in the Northwest Territories, Bert returned to Edmonton where he met and married Edna, his wife of 66 years. He co-founded Braidnor Construction Inc. in 1956.
Bert will be greatly missed by two daughters, Lorna (Ken) Wiggins and Diane (Dan) Ford; two sons, Jim Braiden and Ross (Tracey) Braiden; daughter-in-law, Shelley Smith; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila; and sister-in-law Anja. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna; parents, Andrew and Mary Ellen; brothers, Andy, Jim and Bill; and sister Clara Mae.
Cremation has taken place in Park Memorial Crematorium. A private family service will be held at a later date.
