Obituary of Sye John Dykstra
DYKSTRA- Sye. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father Sye John Dykstra on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at Northland Pointe, Port Colborne at the fine age of 84. Proud father of Peter Andrew Dykstra and Wilma Cora Grace Bussi (Bernie Bussi). Devoted Opa to Alex and Michelle Dykstra and Nicholas and Anita Bussi. Best friend to Jenny Dykstra. Brother to Mary Spiering, Trix Heida, Bill (Henny) Dykstra, John (Marty) Dykstra and Bruce (Vicky) Dykstra .Brother in law to Jane Dykstra and Hessa Dykstra. Pre deceased by his parents Peter and Grace Dykstra, his brothers Peter Dykstra, Andy Dykstra, sister Gunny de Hann, brothers in law Clarence Heida, Gordon Spiering and Teun de Hann. Fondly remembered as Uncle Sye to many nieces, nephews and friends. Sye immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1951 with his entire family. They eventually settled in Sherkston and Opa Sye never moved elsewhere. He loved his town. Opa Sye worked his entire career at the Port Colborne Hospital as an orderly where he made many friends. Opa Sye loved to be outside cutting wood, taking care of the farm, growing flowers but mostly he loved watching his grand children grow. A sincere thank you to ALL the staff at Northland Pointe for their excellent care of Opa Sye. He was very fortunate to be in your care and to be able to wake up to a view of the lake each morning. There will be a celebration of life at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to make a memorial donation, may do so to T.A.S.C.
