Obituary of Ronald Frederick Lovegrove
LOVEGROVE, RONALD (Ron) Frederick [Sept. 16, 1939 – Aug 1, 2019]
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ron Lovegrove shares the news of his passing on August 1, 2019. Ron was born on September 16, 1939 in Montreal, Quebec and lived in Two Mountains, Quebec until 1973, when the family moved to Georgetown, Ontario.
Ron was a loving husband of Joan (nee Bartley) for 57 years and loving father to his four children – Sandra Pesce (Chris), Robert Lovegrove (Jacki), Barbara Martin (Scott), and Heather Clevely (Ken). Ron was Grampie to his granddaughters Diana, Christina, Jennifer, Ashley, Sara, Emilee, and Jessica and was pre-deceased by his grandson Andrew.
Ron was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a drummer for over 60 years and played in many different bands over the years, most recently the Georgetown Seniors Band. He was a retired employee of Nortel and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Ron was also an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church and will be missed by the members of the congregation. He will also be missed by his many coffee buddies at the Georgetown Mall, his many golfing buddies, and his grand-dog Bailey.
Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Tuesday, August 6 from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service to follow. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, 89 Mountainview Road South, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital transportation fund or St. Andrew’s United Church.
