In his 91st year, Ronald Charles Ashmore passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on August 13, 2019.
Ron was the proud father of 6 children, grandfather to 14 and great grandfather of 12. He is survived by his loving sweetheart of 65 years, Mary Ashmore.
Throughout his life he took great joy in providing his talents to support numerous charitable and societal initiatives. He was a very active member of the Catholic community. Throughout his life, Ron greatly enjoyed singing and in his later years was a proud member of a number of choirs and took great joy in bringing comfort to grieving families and senior citizens through song.
As a young man he felt strongly about serving our country during WWII and in preparation decided to join the Navy Cadets to prepare him to follow in his two brothers, Edward and Richard’s, footsteps. He quickly distinguished himself winning a number of awards as an outstanding cadet. This experience and the friends he made were important to him for the rest of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827- 24 Street SW) on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 5:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827- 24 Street SW) on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations to Doctors Without Borders (website: www.doctorswithoutborders.ca) in memory of Ronald would be appreciated by the family.
