Maurice Wilfred Smith passed peacefully on August 26, 2019 at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased in April by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Smith, who he deeply missed. Lovingly remembered by his children Susan Power (Ray), Donna Roy (Scott), Douglas Smith and Nancy Lomas (Rick). He also leaves his grandchildren Leslie Power (Kurt), Michelle Brewin (Darek), Philip Roy (Caitlin), Emma Lomas (Tom), Hannah Lomas (Matt), Beth Lomas (Jack) and Keagan Smith-Riach (Hillary), and great grandchildren Grace, Jack, Jamie, William, Gus and Amelia.
Maurice was born on the farm near Oak Lake, Manitoba and moved to Flin Flon in 1953 where he worked in the Assay Lab in the mine. Maurice loved camping, fishing and curling, and took up golf when he and Barbara retired to Parksville, BC. They were very fond of travelling and especially enjoyed New Zealand, Europe, and the Caribbean. Dad was a private person, who developed deep friendships in Flin Flon and Parksville.
A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
